Matchbox Cars #3 Racetrack Birthday Cake

My friend's son Harrison is turning 3!  He's into Cars right now, so she will put some figurines on the cake at his party.  Since my kiddos have outgrown the Cars stage of life (*sniff sniff*) I rustled up some of my son's old Matchbox cars to show what the cake will look like.   The number 3 racetrack and the checkboard sides are homemade rolled fondant.  The signs are just printed on cardstock.  Not edible, in other words.  ;)

Happy Birthday Harrison!

  2. Love this cake Dawn, and I'm thinking of attempting it. Can I ask what size tin you used for this? I'm thinking of 8in but wondering if that may not be big enough. Many thanks!

    1. Hi! I can't remember for sure, but they do look like 8 or 9 inch rounds. Either will work! Trim each cake just a bit on one side to make them flat, in order to set them together nicely, side by side.

Let me know if you have any questions!
